I Want Her Shoes Newsletter Vol 7

Hi love,

As I write this, I’m soaking in these last few weeks of summer—splashed in sunscreen, half-wet from the pool, and full of gratitude. My oldest is headed to kindergarten in just two weeks (how did that happen so fast?!), and my youngest is giving Olympic-level effort in his toddler swim sessions. Mornings start in the water at 7am and we’re still out there by 7pm—sun-kissed, waterlogged, and happy. It’s a summer I’ll miss when the rhythm changes.

This edition is a celebration of that same spirit—movement, joy, boldness, and a bit of nostalgia. From Pucci’s seaside revival to the timeless drama of a red sole, and the rise of AI style tech that actually gets us (finally), we’re leaning into fashion as fun and function.

Let’s jump into it—like the deep end at sunrise.

With love + style,
Anna, Your Editor & Host

This Week’s Edit: The Style Reniassance

Pucci’s Marmo Revival: Summer Style with a Legacy

A Legacy of Print and Play

Founded in the late 1940s by Italian aristocrat and skier Emilio Pucci, the house became known as the “Prince of Prints” for his swirling patterns and kaleidoscopic colorways. Originally inspired by ski resort fashion, Pucci brought joy and jet-set glamour to fashion through psychedelic palettes and body-hugging silhouettes.

Signature Print: The iconic “Marmo” swirl—first inspired by Capri’s Grotta Azzurra

Now, under Camille Miceli, Pucci is re-embracing its roots—melding archival prints like the Marmo with flowing modern silhouettes that feel as breezy as they are bold. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection in Portofino was a love letter to 1960s European summers—with a distinctly modern tempo.

Editor’s Take: Pucci’s revival is about reclaiming joy, color, and feminine strength — the antithesis to quiet luxury.

Seeing Red: The Signature That Made a Shoe

A Flash of Genius

In 1992, Christian Louboutin borrowed his assistant’s red nail polish and painted the sole of a prototype heel—sparking what would become one of fashion’s most enduring status symbols. With its razor-sharp silhouettes and seductive arch, the Louboutin heel became the ultimate power shoe for women everywhere.

Though the world is loving sneakers and ballet flats right now, the red sole endures—a flash of rebellion, glamour, and legacy under every step. With new collections now playing with comfort, platforms, and even sneakers, Louboutin is meeting modern wearers where they are—without losing that signature drama.

Editor’s Take: In an era of comfort and sneakers, red says: “I still want to be seen.”

Timeless Icons Still Reigning

ALSO… What About White Bags, All Season…?

Summer's Favorite Now Works Year-Round
InStyle and WhoWhatWear agree: white handbags are stepping out of summer-only territory. Think Alaïa’s sculptural elegance, Khaite’s modern edge, and the perennial appeal of a crisp Chanel.

Editor’s Take: Nothing says “I’m pulled together” like a clean white bag—no matter the month, esecially if you live in Miami!

What’s Hot Right Now: Fashion Headlines

What I’m loving (and keeping tabs on) in the world of style and sustainability
  • Chanel launches Nevold, a standalone platform building recycled tweeds, leathers, and structural materials at scale—changing circular fashion from marketing to strategy.

Editor’s take Chanel’s pivot to circular fashion is no longer a campaign—it's infrastructure.

  • “And Just Like That…” Canceled, After two uneven seasons, the Sex and the City sequel series won’t be returning for a third. Despite nostalgic callbacks and new wardrobes, the magic just couldn’t be revived.

Editor’s Take → Just like that… there’s nothing left to say. It felt flat, forced, and a little too desperate to keep chasing what once was.

  • Paris Fashion Week SS26 preview: Creative director debuts at Chanel (Blazy), Dior (Anderson), and Balenciaga (Piccioli) amid a luxury slowdown.

Editor’s take New visionaries take the reins just as luxury faces a reckoning.

  • Jean Paul Gaultier x Crocs Drops This August: Comfort is getting a couture makeover. Crocs is teaming up with French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier for a high-fashion collection dropping this August — and yes, fashion insiders are already on their toes (literally).
Editor’s take Guilty as charged! I wear Crocs around the house to keep my feet safe from Legos, action figures, and rogue toy cars.

  • Princess Diana’s floral Bellville Sassoon dress sold at auction for $520K — a sentimental but powerful fashion flashpoint.

Editor’s take The best looks this season may have had algorithmic roots.

  • Sustainable is the New Standard – Werewool and Coleo just secured major retail partnerships in Europe.

Editor’s take Green is going glam, and Europe’s top retailers are buying in.
